      SUSTAINABILITY

We take our role as a global citizen pretty seriously. We’re always working towards minimising our impact on the planet, but here are just a few things we’re proud of to date.

And if you’re not much of a reader, our eco- frontman Guy summarises things pretty well when you hit play below!

      Reduce & Reuse

We partnered with Waste Ninja to collect our food scraps to turn into renewable energy and send all of our spent grain to local farmers to feed their cattle.

We also catch rainwater and use it to water our plants, to keep our beer gardens lush and thriving.

      Solar Power

We have 356 solar panels on the brewery, generating 130,000 kWh a year, powering over 60% of of our electricity needs!

      Materials

Tins, cardboard and paper mean our packaging is lightweight and recyclable. We've ditched disposable plastics in our Beer Halls and use toilet paper produced from recycled materials.

Over the last year, we've made huge strides in addressing food waste and have partnered with a couple of awesome organisations to ensure we're minimising our footprint...

      ONE FISH TWO FISH

We kicked off a partnership with OneFish TwoFish at the beginning of 2023, and since, the fish and chips sold at our venues have been responsible for 17,434 Greenback Flounder and Rock Flathead being returned to Corner Inlet.

      How exactly?

      • Luke, a fourth gen fisherman and builder of his own boats and fishing nets, catches Rock Flathead and filets on site, before sending straight to our venues
      • You enjoy a plate of Fish and Chips at SG Collingwood or Moorabbin (best served with a fresh pint)
      • OneFish TwoFish put two fish into a hatchery on Phillip Island, which are then released to Corner Inlet…
      • Where Luke does more fishing!

      Fresh, local, and regenerative.

      SHUCK DON'T CHUCK

It’s no secret that ya’ll get through a shuck load of oysters every Friday, so how do we make sure we’re doing our part to preserve oyster reefs?

Through the Shuck Don’t Chuck programme…

      • You enjoy $2 oysters at our venues on a Friday night, we collect your plate and put aside the empty shells for collection
      • Shells are collected and laid out to cure for six months
      • Cured shells are used as a base for reef restoration, or placed in hatchery tanks where little baby oysters attached to them
      • Hatchery shells are placed back in the reef in Port Phillip Bay, with little baby oysters in tow
      • Shells create a new shellfish reef habitat!

Ultimately, this protects our shorelines from erosion, regenerates ecosystems by providing food, shelter and nursery areas for a heap of marine life, and creates more oysters for us to enjoy without the risk of overharvesting.
