Feels good to be free!! Footloose Alcohol-Free Pale Ale is here to join our year round Stripes family and we couldn't be more excited to welcome our first Alcohol-Free beer to our range.
Brewed without shortcuts, this refreshing alc-free pale ale has tropical hop character and gentle bitterness.
What do we mean by 'brewed without shortcuts'? For starters, we've been working on this brew for nearly a year, trying to find the recipe deemed delicious enough to make the cut. We learnt a lot about alcohol-free brewing in that time and tried A LOT of alcohol-free beer.
How did you get to the winning formula?
We did 15 trial brews which included yeast strain trials, hop variety trials, hop product trials, and multiple process and technique trials, and got the whole Stomping Ground crew together on a regular basis to try new versions and provide preference evaluations.
Plus, the actual brewing process is pretty extensive! We've done everything we can to make sure that the flavour you love and expect from us is delivered, despite it being alc-free.
How did you make it alcohol-free?
There are a couple of ways to make an alcohol-free beer but we decided on using a yeast which isn't able to ferment maltose and maltotriose, but is able to ferment simple sugars, meaning that it only converts a small amount of sugar into alcohol - less than 0.5% in fact! This tiny amount of remaining alcohol is so small that it can still be classified as alcohol-free.
